Heavens to Murgatroyd
Heavens to Murgatroyd
After 2 years in the making and almost as many monumental stuff-ups as the first album, here is the long awaited second album from the BMSB.
Much has changed in the world of small things since we recorded our first album, Jabberwocky Goes to Town, way back in the 20th century (incidentally, one of the last vinyl records ever pressed by the mainstream New Zealand music industry). Personal computers, cellular telephones, compact discs: these are now utterly commonplace, whereas gramophone records have become almost unobtainable, as have tea chests, tuneful plastic saxophones, elephanto-phones and all the other low-budget medium-quality junk on which we built our vast ukulele empire.
Consequently, we’ve been obliged to play one or two “real” instruments on this album. Sorry about that. In spite of this slight lowering of standards our music still carries the usual Muffin Guarantee: Absolutely No Guitars Have Been Used In This Production. Remember boys and girls: “Four Strings Good, Six Strings Bad”
This album is dedicated to the memory of the late Cecil G Murgatroyd: ukulele virtuoso, street orator, politician and complete maniac. 22/5/1958—21/5/2001.
