Ukulele Tablature

 PDF TAB

The link above will take you to a random selection of ukulele tabs and music, in PDF format.
They were created by different people in our little group for differing purposes and using a variety of different programs. Consequently the quality and style are quite variable- they are as such individual interpretations and arrangements, which may or may not be similar to existing versions, and are designed to be played by learners of the ukulele.
Some are simple arrangements for personal amusement to be sung and strummed and some are arranged as instrumentals for several ukulele players. None of the arrangements are specifically for solo uke playing; in fact we have taken the other approach of breaking tricky versions into simple parts so that they can be used in group situations.  Most tunes have an easy part and a more difficult part. At times the chord name appears at odds with the diagrams- this is due to the programs which generated the tab needing to be more fastidious about chord nomenclature than is reasonable. In all cases go with the diagram.

There are others tabs to be found below in Powertab, a truly exciting and rewarding format.

 POWERTAB

This page contains a few ukulele tunes in the marvelous powertab format. To open these files you need to have the program installed on your computer. Though designed for guitarists it works just as well for the players of the humble uke.

The program is completely free, music files are tiny and once you get the hassles of the download sorted it is an imminently sensible and useful program. It is a perfect format for swapping tunes and arranging and writing your own, as it also has a play-back feature, for no extra cost.

So, to hell with the expense, pop on down to harmony central , click the download on the left of the page and go for it. Powertab won’t run on a mac- however Tux guitar editor ( http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/) is a free program which will open and run powertab in all its midi glory, though you lose some of the benefits of the powertab.

Once again the disclaimer is that these tunes are our own work, never intending to sound exactly like the original, which in many cases we never bothered to listen to. And because of the limitations of the program, go for the chord diagrams rather than the chord name when there's confusion or apparent conflict between the two.

If you are struggling to find the chords, don't panic as the chord diagrams appear automatically across the top of the page when you print the music.
